Where Function Meets Freshness
Movemints started as a personal project. Our founder, Dr. Dave Pechersky, was mid-treatment with clear aligners and found chewies to be, well... gross. So he decided to build a better way to seat his trays, and freshen his breath while he was at it.
Determined to find a better solution, Dr. Dave began experimenting in his office lab. After unsuccessful attempts at modifying traditional chewies, he turned his attention to dissolvable alternatives, including candies and mints. His breakthrough came when he discovered that mints with specially designed grooves could effectively grip between the teeth without slipping.
Why We Built Movemints
Energized by this discovery, Dr. Dave partnered with Drew Goldstein, JD/MBA, a strategic start-up consultant, to transform his innovative concept into a viable product. Together, they embarked on a meticulous five-year journey of research and development, focusing on perfecting every aspect of their creation—from functionality to flavor.
Working with Pittsburgh-based artist Isaac Bower, they developed a distinctive concave design with precisely engineered grooves on all sides, ensuring the mint would stay in place regardless of positioning. Their innovative design earned three patents, validating the unique utility of their solution.

In May 2018, Movemints made its debut at the American Academy of Orthodontists' Annual Session in Washington, D.C., introducing the world to the first-ever edible aligner seating solution.
